IDLE CONTROL VALVE - HELP -
having been forced to replace the engine on my 1990 940 estate with another B200F engine i took it for a full tune up. however earlier suspicions were confirmed - my idle control valve is on its way out.
i sourced one at GSF but they cost in excess of £100, therfore, im looking to buy one from salvage but dont know what price i should be paying, or what questions to ask. Is there any point buying 2nd hand? will i just be delaying the inevitable? any advice / suggestions appreciated. Also im replacing all sparkplugs - any ideas on good upgrades? quick note im on the look out for volvo BTCC memoribilia from 1994 - 1998, ive put a request in the wanted section. thanks!!! |

RE: IDLE CONTROL VALVE - HELP -
What's the part number?
I'm just about decided now to break my 940. The idle motor on it is brand new, or it was when it was fitted by the garage that knackered the engine, so it's got less than a 100 miles on it. If you're interested I'll see if the part nos match.

I think Ivor's answer was meant for your post under 'wanted' section?

RE: IDLE CONTROL VALVE - HELP -
I have one removed from a B200F engine. It's part number (Bosch) is 0 280 140 16. If it is of use to you drop me an e-mail. All the best, Peter. |

RE: IDLE CONTROL VALVE - HELP -
That does not seem like a Bosch part number mate, they should take the form of the one I quoted. If an Idle Air Control Valve comes off a B200F engine it will happily work on another B200F engine. If it looks the same into the bargain then again it should work quite happily in the same way as the original. Have you tried giving the original one a thorough clean to see if it does not need replacing? You could check on the Bosch website for compatibility as well, or visit your local Bosch agency. All the best, Peter. |
