Default T5 mpg

What sort of 'real' figures are people getting out of their T5's?
I'm going to test drive a C70 T5 manual this week and whilst I'm not buying it for fuel economy I'd love to know roughly how much it's going to drink urban, extra urban, average etc.
The manufacturers sales bumph says urban 21.6 mpg, extra urban 42.2 mpg, and 31 mpg for combined. Are those figures somewhere near or the usual load of rubbish?

As always going right back to 1994 when T5 was first thought of , budget for 25 mpg , the years have been kind though , technology has improved so you should better 30 mpg on long cruising runs .. hills and full throttle will kill any economy though .

I had 37mpg on a recent 120 mile round trip on motorways.
I get 28mpg on my journeys to and from work, however I start early in the morning so don't hit any traffic and drive non stop. No motorway miles.

Thank you. Purchased a V70 T5 now. Seems to be averaging about 28 too.
I'm happy with that given it's size and performance.

I run a very low mileage T5 CC purely as a weekend car. I dont hang around but barely get less than 25 unless I'm really pushing it on an empty road, roof down and greater wind resistance. 30 + is realistically possible, so you're talking 300 to 400 miles per tank, depending on your driving style.

My 1999 ME7 C70 T5 Auto did between 27-33mpg average per tank with daily commuting from Berkshire to SW London, mixed roads/motorways including heavy trafic - the car was healthy and returning good MPG. The car was driven normally, not ragged, used the performance daily but retained a smooth progressive driving style.

On a run you will get more.
