is the cover removable from the backrest? I'm thinking that the passenger seat back could go onto my drivers seat.... or even swap the entire backrest over....

It looks like it does, theres some torx headed bolts holding the assamebly to the base. I think more would have to be stripped off as theres the side air bags snesor to come with it.
