S40 Aerial Rubber Replacement?
Hi,
I have recently bought an S40 and one of the jobs it needs is to replace the exterior rubber cap where the aerial sits. (Where the aerial meets the metal of the car). How would I remove the old one and replace it with a new one?? Thanks, |

Not sure but I think this has been on the forum before and you need to unclip the headlining from the top of the boot lid and you can get your hand in to undo the base of the areial and replace the rubber.
Do a search and Iam sure you can find it. |

Thanks for the reply.
You mean to undo the carpet liner on the inner panel on the left-hand-side of the boot and to then access the aerial from there?? I thought that the headlining has to be removed on a V40??, -mine is an S40. Thanks, |

Noooo. If you are only changing the exterior rubber seal thingy, all you need to do is to undo the 14mm nut that is at the top of the aerial and the rubber seal will come out with a bit of wiggling. No need to access the aerial from the boot

In case you haven't bought one yet, I think I have a spare one somewhere

How about for the V40, any one changed it, is it much of a job? Mine's looking fairly tatty, afraid it might start leaking soon.

See my guide
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=151893 However, since I made that guide, i found out that you can turn the plastic thingy on the roof Labelled "this plastic thingy blocks access to the aerial" in the first photo, by 90 degrees and it comes off

As always, thanks for the info! So, if you turn the "this plastic thingy blocks access to the aerial" thingy a quarter turn, can the headlining be pulled down far enough to get at the aerial base? (Wishful thinking I'm sure!)
