Default S40 1.6 D2 Diesel Engine Cooling Water Leakage

Hello everyone,

I am Volvo S40 D2 owner from Turkey.I have bought my car at 2012 but did not used it often.I just made 30,000 Km so far but 2 weeks ago i realized that my car's cooling water level was under the minimum line. Then i drive to local garage to diagnose the car.Mecahnics told me that kilometer of the car is too low to cause a raidator related fault and they just fill the anti-freeze to the max and advise me observe the level within 10 days.

Yesterday i have checked it againg and i see that it is almost near to the minimum level again and also realized that there were contamination on the engine cover. But the car never give any fault about "low engine cooling water level" however i felt that when the car is fulll with passenger and baggage engine performance was not good to be expected from 115 hp car.

I have already write this problem on turkish volvo forum but they are not so active like this forum. This is why i am here

You may see the photos as i attached.I am very appreciated for you helps and advises.

That looks like plain water , Have you got bright green/blue volvo coolant in it ? the water on top looks like it might be leaking from the washer system …
If you are loosing coolant have a very close look at the water pump with the cover off . they are prone to leaking small amounts ...
