Volvo V40 ECU
Hello there
I have a volvo V40 1.9d phase 2 2003, i only have one key and i know that buying a new one from Volvo is expensive, so i´m planning to buy a new ECU kit from ebay : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273374453...torefresh=true My question is does this have all required? Do i need a RC Module receiver like this one: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/VOLVO-V40-S4...-/272759184546 to open the doors remotely? Thanks in advance for your help |

No, you don't need that unit. The module you have in your second link is the USS Ultrasonic sensor and it has nothing to do at all with the lockset. You will not have to replace the antenna ring around the steering lock either. Just the steering lock barrel.
However, the one thing you will need, is the lock alarm module which is located under the stereo, in order for your remote central locking to work. It has to be from the same car as the lockset. If it a different one, remote central locking will not work and I am not even sure if Volvo will be able to program them Ideally, you should also ask the seller for the glovebox lock, even though that is not so critical Also make sure that the ECU lockset is from the same engine as yours, as there are two versions for the later 1.9D (2001-2004). The D4192T4 engine with 102BHp and the D4192T3 engine with 102BHp. And finally, does your car have cruise control? If yes, make sure the donor car this ECU lockset comes from also has Cruise control. If your doesn't have CC, then no problem. If however yours has it and the donor car doesn't, then it will be trip to the dealer to enable it at £200+!!!!! Hope this helps

Just one last question about the alarm , my car doesn´t have one, and i can remote unlock my car with the key, do i still need the alarm module? Ecu kit for sale doesn´t have the alarm either |

It's called "lock alarm module", but what it actually means is "Remote central locking module". The name of is is a bit misleading. It contains the board and relays that are used to lock unlock the doors and the fobs are programmed to this module. If you get this module from the seller and don't have an alarm, then the car will still be able to lock unlock remotely.
If the seller does not have the "lock alarm module" from the same car, then I am not 100% sure about this, but I am pretty certain that the doors will lock and unlock just fine when you use the key on the door lock, with the existing "lock alarm module" you have on your car. Also, forgot to mention that the lockset also includes the 30621305 CEM, which should not really be part of the lockset, as it does not need to be programmed to the car. So if you get this lockset, you can test the CEM on your car and you can then sell it on ebay and get some of your money back..... Or you can keep it as a spare for yourself Feel free to ask any questions. It took me a bit of time and trial and error with a donor car, to figure out how and what works with what and what doesn't.

Oops, sorry. Just re-read your post and you mentioned that "you can remote unlock your car with the key". I thought you meant when using the key on the door.
To explain it a bit better, the small circuit board inside the key (or in the fob on the earlier models) is directly programmed to the "lock alarm module" or as it should have been called (central locking module). If you don't get the module from the seller, then the new keys will not lock unlock the car remotely because they are not programmed to it, unless you take the car to Volvo and they program it for you, but not sure if they will be able to. If this is a bit confusing, let me know and I can give you my mobile and we can have a quick chat. It will a bit easier to explain
