Guess it's possible but I used it on mine. I assume that due to it's location on the vehicle it must have some type of ingress protection.
Did you get it into the garage ? |

Not yet, I'm not back at home till Friday so have got it booked in Saturday morning. Hopefully they're diagnostics can sort it, or they'll spot something I've missed, which would be embarrasing!

It sounds like it is electrically disconnected. Check the connection is secure on the cable.

I don't think it's disconnected, unless I knocked it while cleaning. The garage have had a look this morning - the fault is coming up an ETM problem (suprise suprise) but they couldn't get it sorted today, so have to keep trying on monday! If I need a replacement ETM, am I right in thinking they are around the £1000 mark?!

That's not as bad as I was anticipating, I will wait out until I hear back on Monday with the garage's verdict and see what to do from there. Thanks for the info.

They dont deserve to continue considering the crap they turned out 12 years ago.

1/ One of the forum members can repair the pots that wear out for a little over £100 see Here 2/ BBA Remanufacturing in Rochester, cost around £250 to replace the pots and test the ETM, (I used them back in 2009 for the ETM repair which cost £330 and it's been fine ever since). 3/ XeMODeX see Here not cheap and factor in the cost of postage - Mike |

But i have always said that volvo don't just buy in parts, they stipulate the specifications .. in practise the general life of these throttles is a little over 100,000 miles , i would like to know the lifespan volvo gave them .. A friend has a 2000 model V70 with 175000 miles still going strong on his original silver label ETM however ! It did have the software update some years ago though .

I got a remanufactured throttle from www.ecutesting.com. Came with a lifetime warranty if you send your old faulty one back. It was simply plug and play. £250. Mine was completely gone, circuits the lot, otherwise it would have cost £175.
