Default 1999 S70 - Loud Exhaust

The exhaust system on my 99 S70 is original and getting louder [I](The nosie is not a ticking manifold leak). I was told the pipng and muffler is OK, and that the noise is coming from the manifold connection to the exhaust. Is this connector a Volvo specific item? And what needs to be done to quiet down the exhaust system?

Could it be the flexi pipe part?

It's a common failure for the flexi-pipe to go. I had a hole in the manifold branch where the 5 pipes join. Bought a new Scantech manifold off eBay for £125 which, so far, 3 years on, still holds out.

+1, I had the same issue on my 850 T5. Overtime, the flex pipe will wear out and break open.
