Default RE-entered Volvo-hood.......again

Hi folks

Well there I was looking up on the web for info on my newly aquired V70 and I thought this looks a nice forum to join.....wonder if I've joined it before.....I'll try my usual name etc.........low an behold I had away back in 2009 when I acquired a S80 for getting back an forth to College.

Well I'm back now having replaced our all to expensive to keep but nice to drive Audi A6 2.5tdi with a high miles 227k, 2003 V70 2.4 petrol Auto that drives like 40k, It's old and tatty but is a great car.
Only had it a few weeks and bought it as a cheap stop gap car till we found summat newer etc and we're so impressed that allready I'm thinking we'll keep it & replace it with another Vovlo when it dies. XC90 is looking like fun if I can find one cheap enough

Planned upgrades are:

Electric/heated Front seats - Manual ones are a real pain to adjust height so Im hunting for some electric/heated ones Research telsl me anything from s60, s80, v70, xc70/90 should fit but will need software update to get memory option...... is this correct ?

Stereo - needs upgrading to something the kids can plug their phones into it, any suggestions?

Security wheel nuts - They're lacking their key/tool so will soon be getting butchered off and replaced with standard bolts.....why do they fit these!?!?!?!

Anyone got any handy easy tips for upgrades and mods? I'll be questing the net for some

Got full service to do so off to that auction site to buy the bits.

Lataz

Hi,
Sorry I can't help much with answers to all your questions but wanted to say welcome back I had a similar scenario when I bought my 1st V40 and joined here way back in 2006 ( I think lol ) and then came back here 2 yrs ago when I bought my 1st Phase 1 V70 , and then another last year , and finally a 2005 V70 auto as a runaround with 210k 4 months ago
Stuff I do know.. As well as basic service stuff be sure and change the gearbox fluid . It is a big "must do" to keep the box healthy. If u do a search there's various methods with no wrong way, just whatever way your happiest with. I use the "undo the drain plug and dump > 4ltrs each time " refilling through the gearbox dipstick . Be sure to use the correct fluid.. our box is the 5 speed Aissin Warner box AW55 and must be JWS 3309 spec fluid. I bought stuff made for Toyota , Volvo, and BMWs. Do this a couple of times with maybe 1000 miles between changes .
Also re the seats I'm not sure u will have to have the software updated, I'd say try it and see 1st , obviously making sure the battery has been disconnected for a while for safety re the airbags and triggering dashboard lights etc. Most likely the wiring is there anyway.
I haven't really done any upgrades , more best quality parts to keep it running its best for the road like good tyres, wipers, oil and gearbox oil changes etc but I did upgrade all the headlight bulbs with Night breaker and LEDs and run mine on V-Power .
Hope that helps a bit,
Cheers,
Steve
