Default Ignition Coil

My Amazon has been converted from LHD to RHd and has a non standard coil (no armoured leads). I think it is playing up and I would like to replace it. Will any 1960's coil eg MGB do or do I need to look for something specific ?

As long as it's a 3 ohm coil, as apposed to a 1.5 ohm one all should be well. The Bosch "Blue" coil as fitted to later 140's and many Fords and VW's are a good choice. An early Fiesta in your local scrappie might have one.

A bit off your topic but related, would it be easy to stip out an old coil and run the electrics through it to an after market coil (Bosch blue!)
inside the car?.
I want to keep the original look!

Probably easier than finding a knackered original coil to strip

My Amazon has one of those gold coloured Lucas sport coils & it's been on it for many years (so long that I couldn't see the colour under all the muck until I cleaned it....) with no problems. IIRC, they're only about £20 or so.

The Lucas gold green label 'sports' coils are ok, but the Bosch Blue Is the one to go for.
I got mine from a VW specialist for £17. You see them around this price on eBay too.
