Default Alcantara

I’m taking delivery of a V90 R-Design this week and want to protect the half-Alcantara seats from family life as best I can. Any tips on what product to use? I’ve heard Scotchgard but can’t see if it’s recommended or not. Thanks.

When I had the Merc ML with alcantara seats a few years ago, the sales guy told me I could try something called the Gtechniq Smart Fabric spray.

I wonder if the Volvo dealers have any products they also recommend.

Suede-like stuff volvo uses seems to be super durable- I've seen pics of seats with 100K+ miles on them that look like new, with no particular care/protection.. I personalty use fabric cleaning wipes on my R seats once a month or so, just to keep them looking fresh.

As for kids- I have something similar to these underneath each of the child seats in the back, to keep the spills/mud off: https://www.thebabyindustry.com/prod...seat-protector

I just clean them once a month with autoglym interior shampoo (spray shampoo on micro fibre then wipe). Then just use a small brush to lift up "hairs" of the alcantara

I've had the R Design seats for a year now with 3 kids of various ages - I just use a damp cloth every few months and they have no issues (now the leather on my driver's seat side bolsters is another story!)

It's actually nubuck leather, not alcantara so the treatment may possibly be different. Nubuck is the outer skin of the cow, sanded then stained. My R is only a few weeks old so haven't cleaned it yet.

Gtechniq make excellent ( if expensive ) car care products. They make lots of stuff for professional car detailers, such as amazing ceramic paint coatings.
