On another thread (might have even been another forum!) the subject of painting leather seats came up. Cost approx £400 inc door cards IIRC.

A photo of the seats would be useful.

Even a re cover may be only temporary.

We have leather furniture at home, paid extra for the upgraded thicker leather, still needed repairs to the finish within 3 years. Just the 2 of us living here and repairs needed on a cushion rarely used.

At purchase I asked where the leather was sourced, a vague from all over was the answer.
Lots of leather comes from China and a lot of that is poor quality, just look at reviews of Chinese made Great Wall 4x4's, leather seriously degraded in under 6 months

If you want English hides you will need a lottery win, hence the poliferation of cheap lower quality.

I think you are supposed to feed the leather with a conditioner - I used Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather 3-in-1 Leather Cleaner Leather Conditioner Leather Protectant 400ml, which whilst it produced very clean seats, they're a very pale grey almost white in my C70, itleft them a little too shiny for my liking and not particularly soft after the first attempt; they were a little softer after the second go a month or so later. As yet I haven't got round to doing the seats for a third time having laid the car up for the winter.

THe V70's seats are a slight darker colour sort of a pale mushroom colour but seem to be much softer seats, but again, the Meguiar's didn't do the job I expected, again too shiny/slippery and as yet I haven't even done them a second time.

I think a lot depends upon the age of the leather and whether is a coated type - if it is coated a water drop doesn't mark the seat which would explain those in the C70 as it is a cabriolet.

I have used Dynamix dye on my C70 seats and have had very good results. They will supply colour to the original Volvo specification. My drivers seat was slightly worn on the bolster and the rear seats had some sun fading on the backrest. I have easily brought it back like new with Dynamix and it doesn't look any different from new seats. It is a thin colour and sealant and doesn't build up on the surface like a lot of dyes do - the last thing you want is a high build so that it looks like a dowager duchess who has ladled the make up on with a trowel. A quick Google should find them - they are based in Northern Ireland.

Attachments show My C70 seats - the backrests have been re-coloured, the seat cushions are sill original.
