Default 850R - PNP/Inhibitor Switch

Hi - Can anyone please advise/help me with a question regarding my 855R? I've noticed my reverse lights are inoperative and I'm wondering if this could be because of a faulty PNP Switch? I've checked the bulbs and all are fine; the car also drives well with no gear change/selection issues. Can a faulty Inhibitor Switch only effect the reverse lights, or would it also impact other things?

Thanks

It is controlled by the PNP switch and a common issue https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=35868

Thanks for your reply.
I understand the pnp switch is quite a common issue, but I was hoping to find out whether a faulty switch might only effect the reverse lights, or would it also impact other things? The vehicle drives fine and changes up/down the auto box without issue

Cheers

That thread discusses that the reverse light switch is the common problem without anything else being wrong and that part is repairable if you want to try that rather than replacing

Ah, understood - Thanks.
I've tried opening the link within the thread but as the other poster mentions it appears to be old/broken,
Given the problems that seem to crop up when trying to repace the contacts it, looks like it might be better to buy a new pnp switch all together: do you happen to know if the aftermarket ones fit properly and are reliable as I believe the OEM units are NLA.

Cheers
