looks good , to keep your eye on it look for the run of the belt over the tensioner wheel from the top .. keep a look for the belt getting very near the edge , it should run somewhere in between the inner and outer edge , when the tensioner wears ,the belt moves to the outer edge .

Quite straightforward -
1. Remove OS wheel and wheel arch liner
Then
2. Release tension on existing tensioner and remove auxiliary belt.
You'll need the appropriate size torx bit to fit your tensioner. Turn it anticlockwise to release the tension on the belt allowing you to remove belt.
There is apparently a special Volvo tool to hold the tensioner with the tension released while you remove the belt - but it's doable (with difficulty) without.
Then
3. Remove the old tensioner (also with a torx bit).
Then
4. Replace with new tensioner and torque to 24Nm.
Then
5. Without the Volvo tool you need to manually hold the tensioner in the untensioned position while refitting the belt (or preferrably fitting a new one). I found fitting the new belt impossible to do without the assistance of someone under the bonnet holding the new belt in place on the upper (alternator) pulley whilst I positioned it around the two lower pulleys, held the tension released on the tensioner and routed the belt around its pulley. This is because is you need one hand under the bonnet at the same time as you need two under the wheel arch.

By the way it's cheaper to buy the auxiliary belt and tensioner as a kit instead of buying the parts seperately (with the kit you also get a new bolt for the tensioner). I bought my genuine Volvo kit from volvopartstrade on ebay for only £54.95 + £3.95 p&p much cheaper than £77 ish including VoC discount from my local dealer.

Hope this reassures you that it's a doable job.

Thanks for the tip Clan.
Although (with a helping hand to fit the new belt - see my reply to Bulldogdrummond) it was indeed a straightforward job the only problem I had was in removing the tension on the old tensioner as the Torx bit just chewed up the small (T40?) torx tension releasing hole even when fully inserted. I ended up having to just lever the belt off the tensioner pulley without releasing the tension. I presume this was why it was changed to a T60 in the later tensioner.
