The ideal solution would be a fascia panel from a 780 but sadly they are no longer available.

Unfortunately the centre console from a 960 doesn't fit the 940.
The heater controls are separate in the 940 but part and parcel of the 960's dash.
I know this from buying a 960 interior with wood effect stuff 3 years ago for my 940 then realising it wouldn't fit
The heater vents are all different too...

You could change the entire dash - but that seems like a massive ball ache - and then there's the case of the steering column/indicator/wiper stalks all being different with different brackets (again, I know this from blindly buying 960 parts from a scrappy)

If you take out the cubby hole in the 940, the space is indeed big enough for a double DIN, but you'll lose the cig lighter (Which I taped up in mine). I could charge my phone from the USB port on the radio though so no biggy!

Differences can be seen in the attached photos (from the web)

Cheers

Handlebars are the wrong side too! The 780 was only ever produced in LHD form or so i'm led to believe from other discussions on here.

Thanks for the clarification, i wasn't sure and only going on what i know of the 740/760 which isn't always relevant for the 9xx versions of what is essentially the same car with a few differences.

If the stereo that is fitted doesn't have a USB port for charging (some are data only for mp3 file transfer) then there are plenty of USB chargers that fit into the dash either with a round or rectangular hole.

The 740/780 dash fits a 940 and likewise for the 760's for 960s - although they're not interchangeable from 40s to 60s!

Except for the seats, courtesy lighting and dials Even the ashtrays are different! :O

Cheers

Yes I've seem these before (see my thread here https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ghlight=double) but they are eye-wateringly expensive to buy from you (I assume its your website) if you are in the UK - Ł120 delivered when I checked recently.

I also am not sure on the finish, it isn't what I'd expect from such a costly part. I have a friend who has a 3D printing business as one of his sidelines and manages to make items for BMW's/VW's and the finish is pretty much identical to OEM even though he uses a relatively simple 3D printer.
