I now have a tester, 2 in fact. A multimeter and a 12v neon type tester.

Or you could just plug in a trailer board and see if it works?

As it is a legal requirement that is likely to be part of the test. IIRC I think it is only statutary for the trailer indicators, though on my 240 it checks the trailer brake lights too. Colin
