In the same boat, I use it in my iPad but use WiFi when possible; so only having half the free data allowance shouldn't be an issue for me.

But it looks like there Business Mode wasn't working which I couldn't see how it ever could.

For low Data & Mobile Phone user then Ovivo should still work out cheaper, but if your an average or high user than the likes of Giffgaff or one of the main mobile companies could be a better option.

We recently bought a 10 inch Acer Iconia tablet PC for use in the caravan.

We bought the Windows 7 version as opposed to the Android version so that the Ovivo 3G stick could be used along with other Windows software we have.

Not used it in the caravan yet but have used it on 3G away from home and it works well.

Skype - no problem.

More expensive than the Iconia Android version but worth it for the additional software I can load on it.

And, being that there is the same tab available with Android - I expect to be able to make it dual boot before long.

I think it's a good buy at present on Ebuyer at about £250.

It will be be used at home too to replace my wife's ageing PC and thus free up the 250GB drive I fitted on her PC about 12 months ago.
For that use at home it will have an HDMI monitor, and USB mouse and keyboard connected.

Colin

We have used a 3 MiFi for nearly 3 years now in the caravan and am pleased with it, reception is pretty good in most places. It's less good on the narrowboat (outside the steel hull) but still not too bad.
We have had a 1Gb/month 18 month contract twice and this is nearing the end. 3 do a 12Gb PAYG over 12 months for £70 (I think) that we think we'll go for. Looking back over usage some months we don't use our 1Gb limit, some months use nothing and some months have gone expensively over. So we think the PAYG option may suit us better. We never stream anything, just info browsing and ancestry research.

Cheapest way to get 3 Mobile Data is:-

Sign up to Quidco.com (£5 a yr)
Buy a PAYG 3 Month / 3Gb Data Sim (via the Quidco Web Site)
http://www.quidco.com/three-mobile-broadband/?ac
The Sim costs £20.49, but you get £12.50 cash back, so the Sim costs £7.99.
Then do the same again after 3 month or the 3Gb are used (DO NOT Top-up), so it costs £31.96 for 1Gb a month for a year (way cheaper than the 12 Month Option)

I use my smart phone with free unlimited data from giffgaff as a portable wireless hotspot. Cheap and easy. Set the phone as a hotspot and connect with the laptop. No extra equipment, no faffing, costs nothing.
