Haha! This is very true. I forget the quote, but its something like 20 V70s still produce fewer harmful gasses than one 240!
The engine control electronics are actually more complex on a 300 than on a NA 740 - The later 300s have mapped ignition control, and the B200E models have Bosch LE-Jet, whereas a 740 injection has K-Jet (mechanical) and conventional ignition. However, we are currently having trouble with the Alarm on the 940 (which is integrated into the EMS), and can anyone tell us what the problem is? Er...Nope. This model clearly predates that new clever diagnostic system (OBDII or whatever its called!!), which would no doubt help....but at the end of the day that's still just gonna give you an error code which says "You need a new AMM at £300"! But you're quite right, it is pretty much all in the name of emissions control, and that pretty much has to be a good thing! cheers James
