The R returneth!!!!
Hi all,
Thought I best write a post on the progress of the R. First a list of whats been done:- Front Subframe out,Cleaned and painted. New Engine mounts fitted (All Five!!) Front Suspension and steering all cleaned and painted. New Bushes, Brakelines,Top Mounts and upper Top mounts. Engine bay cleaned and painted. Rear Suspension out, Cleaned and painted. New Bushes (OUCH!!!!) and Brakelines. New Discs front and back. Calipers rebuilt and painted (Sensible Black). Total Underside of car Cleaned and Painted. Arch liners removed and cleaned, and refitted with new hardware. Wheel Arches Cleaned and painted. Gearbox removed and cleaned, new clutch mechanism and seals fitted. New Luk (Sachs) Clutch kit fitted. Total Engine rebuild, including rebore, new pistons and Rings, replacement head (Gasflowed and Skimmed),Gasflowed Inlet and Exhaust Manifolds. EVERY Gasket, O ring and seal replaced, New Tappets, New Water Pump, Cambelt Tensioner and idler, New Cambelt, New auxilliary Belt and Tensioner. Rebuilt Alternator. New radiator fitted. EVERY Coolant hose and turbo hose replaced (Most are Samco) All Steel Brackets Zinc plated. All Visible Alloy Polished. New later style 16T Turbo. Ferrita Downpipe and Cat. I turned the engine over yesterday, to get oil pressure, successfully, and will now finish off the fitting of the ancilliaries over the weekend, and hopefully have the initial start up celebration on Sunday??? I'll post some Pics when the engine bay is completed. |

I've just come in from running the R for the first time!!
It was only about a 45 second run, as I still havent refitted the Driveshafts, hence theres no oil in the gearbox!! It sounded very sweet indeed, although the exhaust is blowing through a spare lambda hole, I'm waiting for Don to send the Bung right now. Still some finishing off to do, but the most nerve racking part is at least now over!! |
