Default V 70 bi fuel

Right lol having problems ,my car runs perfect on petrol but on LPG it will swap over seamlessly and idle perfectly on gas and rev out no problems when revved from idle, when you drive it it sort of dies randemly like its run out of gas flick it back to petrol and perfect some time it can run ok on gas ,I've only had car a mth or so I've so far took the distributer off and cleaned it then I bought a repair kit from gas 2000 I've fitted that and no difference could I be barking up the wrong tree could it be plugs?when I got car it ran perfect for two weeks it's a 2.4 v70 bi fuel 2002 and it has an extensive service history but not sure when it last had plugs ,there's comments on here about the three prong one should I use these or bkr6es ones pls help thanks all in advance

The trouble with randomly swapping bits to see what happens is that it gets expensive and frustrating.

If the car is a factory bi-fuel then it's almost certainly the gas distributor/vapouriser that's the problem. If you do a search on here you'll find dozens of similar stories. Factory bi-fuels are one of Volvo's very few mistakes. The only real solution is to swap the front end gas system for an after-market conversion.

What repair kit did you buy and fit I wonder?

As the car is a 2002 then I'm guessing that the 'distributor' you refer to is the gas one, and not the ignition distributor, as a 2002 car should be distributorless in the electrical sense!

You're in Prestatyn so the way to get this sorted is to make contact with Dai Brace (Classicswede) who's only just up the road from you. He'll sort you out.

As for spark plugs, LPG does demand that they're in good condition. I've found that Denso single point copper-cored plugs work best in my V70 conversion. My engine certainly does not like multi-point plugs. If the plugs are old then new ones will help, but I do think that your best bet is a phone call to Dai. http://www.classicswede.com/home.html

Cheers

Jack

I'll keep an eye on this as my S60 bi-fuel has the exact same symptoms.

Having priced a new distributor from autogas 2000, it will probably be going to Dia when money allows (and I've sorted out some more urgent faults that had been cunningly disguised )

The new distributor with stepper motor comes to just over £500 - makes more sense to me to rip the front end out and get it replaced for a few hundred more.

Default Fixed it I think .....again

Right where the gas goes into the pressure regulated after the solenoid there a 19 mm nut where the pipe goes I pulled that out and there is a spring and an end which should slide in and out ((to follow something like a cam) mine was stuck on the shaft and it should slide up and down it shuts off and releases the gas entering the regulater took it off cleaned it so it slides nice and free and it works been out for 10 mile trip and it drove excellent on gas (couldnt go 10 yards before without cutting out now it won't cut out any gear any speed no probelms

Do you mean where the gas pipe enters the LPG distributer? That looks like a pig to reach!
