This is what Volvo says In respect of V60 twin engine
For eight years from the date the vehicle is delivered to the first owner or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, any material defect of the hybrid Lithium battery pack* will be rectified free of charge by an authorised Volvo retailer. |

I didn’t realise the battery warranty was restricted on ownership. That might be a deal breaker for me. I need to get that clarified urgently.

I don’t believe that it is restricted to the original owner. I understand that the 8years goes with the vehicle and not the original owner

Thats right , what they mean is from date of first registration not counted from date of manufacture ..

But on second read I believe it's just clarifying that you don't get another 8 years every time the car has a new owner, which is what you could claim, if it said 'For eight years from the date the vehicle is delivered .. to the owner' |

8 year warranty
thanks for the advice, this is a weight off my mind, as there is a constant error message popping up on my dashboard, and the local volvo dealership think its a battery error. They quoted 21k for a new one (supply only!) so this is music to my ears. The tailgate lock has already had to be replaced, and the compressor, so i'm no rush to have any more repairs done. thanks.

Thanks for all your feedback folks...
So the story so far... 3 days of Volvo dealer back and forth to 'technical' and 6 hours 'diagnostic'- garage agreed to charge me for 3 of them (£511) Part on order from Volvo Sweden and Volvo agreed to fund 40%. So I will get another bill for £1300 if I go through with it. Apparently Volvo's initial goodwill suggestion was 20% so the dealer push to 40%. My feeling is that at a minimum, they should fund the whole part and I pay labour. I am really unsure about how to get someone to try to fix it. It seems that even the Volvo main dealers dont have much experience with their own PHEV so I wonder how difficult it might be finding someone to take it on successfully. I going to look into the 6 months and my rights thing.... I purchased from Imperial Car Supermarkets in Feb. |

phevs
Sadly the v60 phevs are as rare as hens teeth, my local dealership can only service my 64 plate v60 phev on certain days every fortnight, when the necessarily skilled engineer is in.
