We replaced our v70 recently because we need a 7 seater and we loved the Volvo.
Its a 2014.
The wife loves the new car, I prefered the v70 as it was a more refined vehicle.
I assume that the engine and box are the same as the V70? if so does the 2014 engine still have the same oil rising issue that the older D5 engine suffered from or have they cured that?
I was so paranoid in the last Volvo that I was changing the oil every 6000 miles and Always checking levels.
Also this car has a proper dipstick so easier to check than the silly little one on the V70 (or the inaccurate electronic one)

Secondly, does the 2014 XC90 still have the swirl flap issue that plagued the earlier versions or has this too been updated?

Finally, as I intend to do a gearbox oil change soon, are there any other fluids to do on an XC90 that don't exist on a 2WD volvo i.e. diff or transfer box?

At 85k miles - I will also be cleaning out the EGR, a fun job :-(

Just off to have a tow bar and roof bars fitted!

Take care

Congrats on the new car.

There are a number of fluid that should be changed, here are some excellent video tutorials on how to do them.
Rear Diff:

Haldex / AOC:

Gearbox oil:

I will be doing all the above plus the fuel filter on a friends 2014 XC90 D5 shortly.

Hope you enjoy the new car. I had a 2014 R Design XC90. Deeply regret getting rid of her. (won her class at the northern BKV a few years back) currently pedalling a V90 R Design D5. But do miss the XC90, hope the wife doesn't clock this, she hates the V90
