Thanks for all the advice -
could this stop the central locking working properly? now the rear doors do not lock and unlock I think maybe I should give him an opportunity to rectify his work but am unhappy about letting him near my car again, what should he do to put things right? |

Thats one way of doing it & the way I used to but now I use 1 of these
http://www.towsure.com/product/Towba...Self_Switching Just needs 1 wire from the car battery & no need to connect to the alternator clever bit of kit does all the switching for you like I said 1 live feed from the car battery then connect the fridge wire & battery wire from the caravan to the relay + reverse light wire & an earth job done it takes the pain out of the job

Quote:
1. get him to disconnect all he has done & see if everything goes back to normal, then re-wire it corrctly. 2. tell him to remove all of his cr@p work & run without the secondary socket cos as The Hooded Claw says it's not really needed I have the socket & the relay fitted but I only use for the reverse lights on the caravan I run with all the charging system switched off in the van 3. buy the relay secondary socket & cable & fit it your self it's not difficult if you can wire up a 3 pin plug at home or connect up a computor then you should be OK The Haynes Caravan Manual 4th Edition is a very helpfull book & a good addition for any caravaner & will explain all you need to know about caravans

I am a Caravan Virgin the largest tow I have done was my speedboat but that was a long time ago - but fantastic fun amongst the drama that went with almost every trip...... oh the good old days.......
I never thought I would ever hear myself say that a: I have a Caravan - b: I have a Volvo ..... and both before I am 40 Grow old gracefully thats what I say....lol Just bought a Coachman Pastiche 520/4 how long have you been caravanning? Last edited by BigE; Mar 9th, 2011 at 22:26. |

Big E .. A few tips fer ya on Caravanning
1. do EVERYTHING SLOWLY 2. don't EVER think about "job 2" til "Job 1" is done 3. when you pull up on site & "don't Know" this or that YOU WILL NOT LOOK A PRAT (its ALWAYS in yer mind "oh Sh!t EVERYBODIES done this before & I Aint I'm gonna look the biggest MUPPET on the Planet here") 4. Ask the guy next door he'll help (ALL caravanners are like that, we just "pitch in & help") 5. Owt yer unsure of Post up here & me & jim (or Others) will get back to yer ASAP 6. Pitchin a caravan is STRESSFUL Take a break & have a Beer/Tea/Coffee 7. Send the Mrs & the Kids to play on the Swings (or summott) just get em away while you concentrate on "Setting up" ect 8. ALWAYS REMEMBER your on HOLIDAY .... ENJOY YERSELF!!!!
