Hello, checked about whether the DPF has been changed, it is a wet DPF and Voltech said that although Volvo recommend it, they do not change it as a matter of course. Their rationale being that they see some cars with 150,000 miles and no DPF problems yet others with 40,000 with blocked units. In my case, today they changed the sensor which didnt make a difference so then they forced a DPF regeneration which they said seemed to be successful. If the problem comes back, next time a new DPF will be needed. (Hope not!).

Hello here's the latest update. After the forced regen the car did about 500 miles then same problem started again. Restricted power and then a few miles later the emissions light came on. It's going in to get dpf changed tomorrow. I asked voltech about whether it would be a good idea to change the egr at the same time but Paul said they have never had to change one. Anyone got any thoughts?

So new OEM EGR and DPF fitted (£800) yesterday and car is livelier and pulling well. Did my regular trip east kilbride to Stirling today and where I usually get combined mpg of around 60, I got 69 today.
Need a couple of tyres now. Does it ever end? |

Postscript to this story is that after a further 1000 miles I filled up this morning and then got "engine service urgent" message. Turns out the eolys fluid sensor was giving a fluid level low warning. Sure enough it took just over a litre to fill it. Reset the codes and good to go again. I reckon this too is probably par for the course at 78000 miles.
