Default Brake fluid level

V70 2011 d5

My brake fluid level warning message has come on even tho the level is up to max line in the tank. The only time it will go out for a couple of seconds if I break hard and the nose dips a bit.
Anybody got any ideas as its really annoying me having this large warning all of the time.

Thanks

I'm not too familiar with the P3 models, but could it be that the warning light is also used to show when the brake wear sensors in the pads are coming into operation?

The owners manual is online via Volvo website. It can be downloaded as a PDF or app for phone.

alternately if you do a search for some images of the front pads for your specific vehicle you'll either see that they have a wire and harness sticking out of the side of the pad (that would mean they do have wear sensors) or they don't (in which case your vehicle does not have any electronic sensors). That would of course not help in confirming that the pads are low but it might avoid having to check if they are not equipped with the sensors themselves.

I prefer to check than trust a sensor for pads

Had a quick look at the pads and they are worn a bit so could need changing. I have noticed that if I push the brake pedal down with a little force whether moving or stationary the light goes out.

From reading a bit on the net the police spec cars have brake wear sensors (which mine is). When I look on the net for replacement pads it brings up the standard pads without sensors. How do I find a part number for a pad with sensors ?

Thanks
