Default geartronic oil?

Hi Guys, Ive recently purchased [S/H] a V70 2.4 awd geartronic....have receipt for a recon auto box fitted 2 years ago.

Now, in respect of maintaining this box from repair, what would you peep recommend as oil to do a change in the box.

Also: would you just keep changing whats in the box sump every few weeks for a while, or pull the transmission cooler pipe off and pump as much as poss out ?

thanks in advance.

Start with a drain and fill. Use specification 3309 fluid. If the fluid drained is black, multiple drain/fills required. Be sure to check level a the appropriate temperature. There is a chart for level at different temperatures. I do a d/f about every 15,000 miles as the fluid is inexpensive.

If it had a new box, that recently, the oil should pretty good still, so I wouldn't get paranoid about it, but like you, I'd be wanting to keep it that way! I change mine every 3rd engine oil change, which is probably way more than enough, but as BugEye says above, I'd rather spend an extra few quid a year on oil and not worry about it.

I use Millers spIII which is about 30 quid for 5 litres. It takes 3.5 litres for a change so so I get nearly 3 changes for 60 quid. I change the engine oil every 6,000 miles so so my 10 litres lasts best part of 60,000 miles and I can sleep soundly at night :-)

I'm trying to fit it in this weekend. I've ordered a 20l barrel "Mannol 8218" after reading through a few recommendations here and in other forums.

The Mannol seems to be well recommended, I haven't tried it. It's around €50.- here in Germany.

Until now I've always used "Fuchs" ATF, very good, but to expensive for a first flush (I got this car only four months ago). After two or three flushes over the next few months, I'll go back to the Fuchs ATF, as a "year-long" filling.

So depending on how long you try to drive this fluid, choose one. Oh, and before I forget: I've read a tutorial
