Default Induction kit or air filter?

I have heard that some german bloke put a green cotton air filter in his 1.8i which is what i have. i want something that will make the engine sound a bit better and increase acceleration a bit. any ideas?

wouldnt bother, had one on mine for 3-4 months, actually slowed it down - back on stock airbox now. you wont hear much difference on a n/a engine - turbos yes due to the high amount of air sucked in, 1.8 n/a - not worth the cash. im planning on selling my induction cone anyways if your still interested - email me matt@terrastudios.net

Try asking terrastudios (Matt), he had an air filter but removed it and put the original factory filter back. You could get a nice backbox, or if it's a pre '91 de-cat it and get a nice backbox. I have seen on forums that an air filter could reduce your performance-i've always been in two minds about one, thats why after nearly two years i haven't got one! You need to make sure you have a good cold air feed as warm air being sucked in can reduce power too. Anyhow, try Matt or ask in the Performance section. Let us now how you get on...
