Default Engine light

I have a 2012 xc60 d4 163 FWD, the car had a service at volvo and the engine light went off after the service (no fault codes found), it's now back. Any ideas? could the rear brakes near their wear limit cause this? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

The car's systems have their own modules so a Brake Control Module (BCM) fault wouldn't normally manifest itself as an Engine Control Module (ECM) dash message.

The car needs a code read using a suitable tool as guessing is next to useless unfortunately unless you're a lucky guesser.
That said, a message following a service could relate to an oil level issue so check with your dealer.
