WARNING: MAY CONTAIN VIRTUE SIGNALLING

The recent furore regarding everyone’s favourite government adviser prompted me to check my VOC’s Driving Journal. It’s revealed that since March 23rd, I’ve driven 120 miles (or about 1/2 way from London to Durham...).

So. Is that high, low or pretty much average?

Well, look like I have only just exceeded you with 130 miles since mid March .... of which I expect a few miles would've been driving "In & Out" of the garage for it's extreme package of TLC polishing.....!!!!

In fact I actually filled her up today for the 1st time in almost 3 months to have a very pleasant surprise finding Petrol was only 99.7p/l at my local Morrison's, but with the recent increase in vehicle movements over recent weeks I cannot see that sub £1 price holding for long.

It was quite hot last week so to cool down I had about 5 beers one afternoon, but I had to go out later that evening for an important meeting. So me and my wife went for a test drive to see if I was too drunk to drive.

Luckily, after about 30 miles of happily waving back to the people flashing their headlights at me, I assessed that my driving was fine and drove home.

Next week my wife is going for a drive to test her eyesight.

You have got to just love the NEW relaxed driving rules endorsed by the Government recently.

The Saab 'vert did 10 miles in April and has not been out in May. My V70 did 23 in April and thus far has done 22 in May. Linda's Saab did 22 miles in April and the same number so far this month. Mainly trips to the supermarket and twice to pick up repeat prescriptions. That is a total of 99 miles across three cars by two drivers since April 1st. Sorry, 'gmk666', that is the closest that I can get, I can't compute a more accurate figure from March 23rd.

At 1.707 miles per day (99/58), I would estimate that we have driven around 114 miles since that date, so we are quite clearly in the same ball-park!

Regards, John.

From start of March to when I commenced working from home I did a total of 2,100 miles (exactly) - that's 1st to 23rd.

In comparison from 25th March to now, i've only done 286 miles.

It's stood doing nowt for a total of 39 days!

We are classed as a key industry so I have been enjoying traffic free roads and doing my usual 450 miles a week commuting. Getting home a lot quicker in the evening with no traffic jams on the M18.

A grand total of 17 miles driven since the lockdown announcement. Washed the car thrice though.

123 miles since lockdown began (and I haven't washed the car yet this year).

I have, however, managed to acquire a dent in the front passenger door. My instinct () is that someone hit it with their door in the supermarket car park. Very annoying.

There should be social distancing for cars too.

Yeah, I wish all the parking bays were like parent&child bays
