He's asking offers over £6k for his 164 without seeing it in the flesh it seems it would be a good deal at around the price I would think.

Don't know if he has a price for the GT. If it is a proper GT then it will be worth a bit even in average condition.

Have you got your heart set on a Amazon? A 140 or 160 series car can offer better value at the moment if you like the styling.

really like amazon as 1st choice 2nd would be 142 but seem even less of those

It is possible to change over, but means drilling spot welds on battery tray and pedal box, and swapping them over, plus changing handbrake, as it is sited between seat and door, plus steering box and idler, and dashboard of course, plus the dash wiring won't reach.
Or you could just buy a lefty and drive it.
