Default 2010 xc70 fuel filler pipe

Hello ,

Odd question but my xc70 has a strange adaptor where you put the fuel nozzle to fill up , and the pump dosnt go in very far , is this normal

It looks like someone has fitted a fuel angel type devise, ostensibly to prevent miss fueling but also an anti syphon devise. Had one fitted to the works sprinter when it was new, right pain in the bum as when the tank got near full fuel spewed back all over my trousers, after 3 such episodes an original cap was obtained from e bay and the fuel angel removed. It was only a bayonet fitting into the filler neck and a smaller cap into the devise, on the Volvo one would assume it is screwed in as the filler cap is a screw fitting.
If you are unhappy with it have a go at unscrewing it, if it comes out fine source an original cap from dealer or breakers, if it does not come out source a replacement pipe and cap from a breakers.

I was just gunna say it looks like one of those anti idiot diesel filler thingys that you can't put a petrol filler in. As if you'd forget a D5 wasn't a diesel haha

Thanks , never seen one before and had issues filling using Esso pumps , il see if I can remove it
