Well, it's been a wahile since I was here. Life has been "going on" like it does. Family bereavement, re-evaluation of my life, etc etc etc.

Anyway, yesterday I removed the broken chrome door handle. Broken in the same way they all do, they're rubbish. It's embarrassing to keep opening the front door stretched in from the rear door, so it needs to be done.

So that's what I'm doing. I will say, the P2 cars are even harder than the P1, and they weren't easy in the first place. It's a right kerfuffle, and I'm not enjoying it at all, but there it is.

Had mine on the ramp at work today to investigate the cause of the back of the car shimmying about when cornering, especially on bumpy roads, well, I found loads of stuff wrong, yellow denotes the weak bushes, red denotes the completely wrecked ones with some if not all the rubber has disconnected from the metal sleeve, the biggest ones on the trailing arms are so bad that there's practically no rubber left in there at all, this is the same story both sides, no wonder it drives like a p!ssed pig, worrying as the mot is only 2 weeks away, although I'm certain that all of this wear hasn't occured in a year and it passed last time, which in itself is worrying as well, with this list of things it'll probably be more viable to awake the t4 from its slumber and stick it in at the local garage and take them up on their pay monthly option, as it's still the better car of the two.

Got the ball rolling now with the t4, it's booked in for the engine changed at a local trusted garage, it's now or never.

T4 is now nearly ready to go for its heart transplant, today I put air in the tyres, fitted a decent battery, played driveway Tetris so it's not behind the caravan anymore, refitted the front indicators, put the dodgy cem back in (I'll swap the one back off the SE once the engines in) and fitted the egg crate grille I purchased a while ago, the car looks a lot better already, next weekends task will be to clear the car out after its had some rodent activity in there at some point, they've found a full 2l bottle of Dr pepper that I didn't know was on the floor in the back and eaten through it, so you can imagine how great the rubber mat looks.

MOT time for the S40, an easy pass with just the rear discs and pads on an advisory (which I knew about but hadn't had chance to get done). Excellent service as always from David Pengelley Autocare in Nottingham.

Also, picked up a couple of gas struts for the boot from Euro Car parts, not because I necessarily need them but because there's (presumably) an error and they are £2.75 as opposed to £40 each... and the discount code still worked so a pair came to under £4... get buying before they notice!

I was expecting them to be wrong or for them to say when I turned up to pay that there was a price error but no such conversation occurred!

In my case they could still be wrong as you've got an S40 and mine is a V40, just noticed that bit lol, oh well, either way they were still cheap.

Yeah the S40 ones are quite short! Could be worth tapping your reg in though to see if they've also done it on the ones appropriate to V40s, we buy a lot of struts at work for buses and even at trade prices in bulk they are nothing like as cheap as that so like you say, worth hanging on to
