Good idea to have a trial run on a breaker first.
Are they still available or will I have to opt for pattern ones?
Does anyone know if fibreglass wings are available? I once fitted fibreglass wings to a Talbot Sunbeam in the distant past.
Still available in both gen Volvo and pattern. I got two mint ones off another breaker car but they will need paint. I'll be getting bonnet done at same time anyway so not such a big deal

I found all the wing bolts ok. Couldn't work out how to remove bumper though

Breaker car is so rusty the bumper just pulled away to reveal the bolts underneath but I obviously don't want to do that on my car when it comes to fitting them

The bumper bolts go in forwards, tap into the bumper, so you have to get behind the bumper.

If there are mud flaps you may need to drill out a rivet.

I’ve just had the arch liners out on my 940 whilst doing some “first aid” to the lower extremities of the wings. There are two screws at the rear lower edge of the wing which screw through the arch into the wing itself. They would also be fixing a mudflap if there was one. The plastic arch has one other screw above and inboard of them plus two plastic nuts onto fixed bolts in the inner wing, one at rear and one at front. The liner also has “teeth” at intervals around the edge which locates against the wing edge. I would definitely advise removing the plastic liner. Once all fastenings are removed it simply lifts out. It will also permit a much better view of what is behind it.

On my 1992 940 the front bumper is secured by two nuts and bolts each side. 19mm nuts I think. The bolts are fixed to the bumper and locate through holes in the bracket on the front of the shock absorbers which are fastened to the sub frame. If the bumper is fitted with an air dam it will be easier to access those nuts with the air dam removed. It is secured by spring clips and has a screw at each end. Remove all four nuts then pull the bumper forward to slide the wrap around end pieces off the bracket on the wing.
