Default Reverse sensors permanent tone on S60

Driving me nuts.

A few months back one day I put the car into reverse and rather than letting me know when I was getting close to something, it just went to a permanent tone which it has been doing ever since.

I have listened to each sensor and they all make the clicking noise like they should. I have cleaned each sensor off and now have rubbed them all down with emery paper. I've checked every fuse available in the boot compartment and checked every visible wire without removing the rear bumper and checking each sensor individually.

Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be? I scanned the forum and I don't know if anyone has had the same problem resolved yet. Thanks in advance.

Fitted a tow bar recently? That happened to me on my 940.

I don't have reversing sensors on my V70, but I do on my Rover. I had the same issue on there and that did turn out to be one of the sensors. However, the continual tone on the Rover seems to happen on a number of faults other than the sensors themselves. One of the big ones are faults on wiring loom behind the bumper. They can rub a little and then water gets in causing problems. Many users have had to remove the bumper and carry out repairs / replacement of the loom feeding the sensors.

Here is a wiring diagram of the Volvo parking assistance system if its of any use to you.

Wow very useful thanks. I have removed the bumper now to see if there was anything glaringly obvious that i could see but unfortunately not. A couple of the sensors are a bit damp and thats about it. I have some serious questions now seeing as all sensors seem to be working as they are making an audible clicking sound. I still have the permanent tone when I try removing the sensors one by one and going into reverse.
