Default 164 heater, 1973/74

Wanted, full heater box with fans from 164 (1973 on), or 260, or 240 with air-conditioning.

Thanks

John

may be able to assist; I'm guessing this is needed for your 164Gt? I do have a heater box from a '73 164e. It has a couple of cracks to its plastic case which could be fixed with some fibre glass but is otherwise in good condition. Leave me your email, I'll dig it out and send you some pics.

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the offer. Actually, it's for my 245, to which I'm fitting air-conditioning. (The late 164s were 'aircon-ready' and used the same heater box as air-conditioned 240s.)

I think I have one now, but if that falls through can I come back to you?

Cheers

John

No worries, useful info, any more early 240 bits handy for the 164?

In general, not as much as you'd think, and it depends on the model year.

Very early 240 doors and bootlid will fit a late 164.

I used later 240 doors on mine, but they needed a lot of modification to fit (completely different latches, needing sections welded in).

Glass is transferable (except front doors on quarter-light 164s).

1974 164 has 200 series rear suspension, or very similar.

'75 is a cross-over year. Whilst Europe had the 264 launch, in the US market there was a 1975 164, sold alongside the 240 range. That car was a hybrid, with full 200 interior and rear suspension.

Maybe you could help with this?
