hazard warning light button cover cap broken
hi all i have managed to brake my cover button cap don't know how .so im after the small cover as the flasher button still works fine does any one have one or know of one thats available?

I did the same on mine, and was told that to replace the cap, the stalk must come off, and to get the stalk off, the wheel must come off, and that involves the airbag...
Not sure if this recipe is correct (it was some years ago) but it seemed a bit of a palaver and I never did get around to replacing the cap. |

On my 940 mine is broken and fell off 2 years ago. First time tester said get another. This time not mentioned. If you get a sensible tester of the old school, then being sensible, just a cosmetic cover.
I certainly wouldn't want to remove the steering wheel as re setting the air bag clock spring looks fun. James. |

James.[/QUOTE] If you do go down that route, the clock spring is no real issue so long as you set the steering straight ahead and do not move anything. Just remember to disconnect the battery for at least 15 mins, I did 30 mins before you remove the steering wheel and unplug the clock spring. |

Yes, or at least it used to be. It contains the hazard warning light tell-tale to let you know when the hazards are operating which always had to be red.
I don't know if this rule has been relaxed or not but as the hazards are still checked during the MoT i would think not.

Not in my experience. It had no scrap of a cap on it for five years!
Since that 940 was written off by third party criminals in September, I bought another yesterday, beautifully maintained by a semi-retired antiques dealer who spared no expense at Brayden to keep it proper. One of the few things wrong with it, you guessed, broken red cap. Passed the MOT every time without that as an advisory. |

If the red cap is missing, it's also faulty and doesn't provide the red tell tale. Note that on the Volvo the red tell-tale isn't necessarily a problem as both indicator tell-tales flash with the hazards but the missing part of the switch should be.
