I passed one on the M1 this morning and the driver actually had his hands on the wheel - which was unusual......

The difference in road fund is £340, or less than £30 a month. Your car has probably depreciated more than £400 a month on average every month you have had it. I am not sure the extra is sufficient magnitude to deprive yourself over...

But I guess it’s all personal. I just decided if I was going over £40k I might as well get good value for money and go way over!

I don't think I have deprived myself, I am driving a fully loaded inscription which cost £59k 3.5 years ago, with a 5 years service contract and extended warranty, it only has 18k on the clock and still looks mint, it will last me a while longer. I am in my twilight years now and my next vehicle may be a mobilty scooter, a fully loaded hells angel type.

Loads of manufacturers offer it now. I’m pretty sure it’s on the Kia e-Niro too (can’t have one of those for 18 months either due to pitiful waiting list).

All the cars I’d like to own that have it are too expensive.

Am I alone? Or does anyone else find the Volvo "boring" to drive? Its very very competent but give zero feedback. It "wallows"'along and does what its supposed to but has no passion and the steering gives very little feedback. No excitement.

But it's a great car for long journeys and you arrive feeling fresh. The new seats aren't as comfortable as older Volvos were, but look nice and trendy.

I know this sounds negative, but there's alot to like about the car but it isnt a car for people who love driving, its a car for "traveling" in.

Now I expect I'll be attacked for this.

I know what you mean, but mine almost ticks all the boxes I bought it for.
I still get drawn to Mercedes styling but I just cannot get over the way they treated me, the way they also squeeze every last penny out of you after buying and the fact that their quality has gone down and rattles, squeaks and creaks seem to come as a standard no cost option.

I agree that at least my XC90 D5 PP is not an exciting drivers car, and a bit boring, it is a very practicle car and was bought for its practicality, it is an all rounder, comfortable (although let down by road noise) loads of space, 7 seats, and some nice tech, a very able tow car with a load area that swallows everything, including a huge 53kg Old English Sheepdog with ease. (again not quite as good as the old XC90 being 4"narrower and a more slopey tailgate)
For me it was the best practicle car for my needs but like most things there had to be some compromises. Yes its a bit boring unlike my Defender which is "SO COOL" according to all my grandkids and their friends.

yes boring nothing to do but sit there like in a first class railway carriage in comfort with no stress and step out after 300 miles as fresh as when you started .. Isn't that what people like? i doubt if even 0.5% of owners go hurtling around a racing circuit to test these "handling features" you talk about :-) If you do happen to go hurtling around a racing circuit with a professional racing driver you will find a volvo does quite well 👍

No Clan, I was really talking about twisty country roads. The lack of feedback through the wheel makes placing the car a chore. As a motorway cruiser I agree with you.
My other car is a Golf GTi and every time I jump in it I think why oh why can’t the Volvo feel more like this. Lovely precise auto gearbox no hunting.

Then after a few days I drive the Volvo and think “my god this is so smooth” but after a while I’m bored.

Perhaps I should sell both and get a BMW M340i touring. Lol.
