I assume they have a throttle cover. have you looked to see if it needs greasing?

Yes the cable seems to be the issue as the throttle body turns smoothly just can’t seem to find a replacement cable anywhere ☹️

On my old V70 the throttle cable siezed up. The plastic sheathing had started to break down and damp had got inside. Rather than replace it (hellishly expensive at the time) I broke off all the plastic covering, which left the inner metal sheath exposed, which is made up of a tightly-wound coil. I got some 3:1 oil and soaked this through the windings of the sheath.

By hand I worked the inner cable back and forth until it all freed off. Then to protect it all from the damp I got some clear plastic tubing of a suitable diameter (washer bottle tubing I think), slit it lengthways and fitted this over the metal cable, holding it all in place with cable ties at intervals.

Periodically I'd simply re-oil the cable to keep it moving smoothly.

It was only ever meant to be a temporary repair, but I think that it lasted several years, and was still working 100% when the car was eventually sold - with 300,000 miles on the clock.

Got to be worth a try. I did this probably 8 or 9 years ago now, and although it was meant to be a temporary fix it just carried on working and I never did get around to replacing the cable.

I wouldn't bother buying the plastic tubing until you've got it all moving, so the inital cost is a little bottle of 3:1 oil. I used this because it's quite viscous and the bottle has a little dispenser spout, so you can direct the oil without making the mess you'd get from WD40.

Hope it works for you
