Default Noisy 2nd, 5th and 6th xc70 m66awd

My xc70 has developed a very rattly 2nd, and almost a groan on 5th and 6th gear. No issue with power delivery. Fluid was "topped up" during the clutch change, come what 1000 miles ago.
2nd is almost like a helicopter sound when letting off throttle, coming to a stop, where 5th and 6th are very loud groans.
I do admit to pulling off in 2nd gear sometimes.

Am I going to be dealing with a dead gearbox issue?
Could the clutch change be related to how it may have been installed? Or could it be fluid incompatibility?

I'm going to the garage that fitted the clutch tomorrow to show them the issue with a hope of liability, but failing that, may I be looking for an m66awd unit, 2nd hand/rebuilt?

Fluid specs?

I would go for that clutch change, not for a dead gearbox.

Well, initial verdict, I found a slow leak on the drivers side output shaft. Not enough to leave territory marks?
I drained 1.3litres out of the gearbox, brown, with glittery bits in. But not Renault silver. Bugger...
Refilled with generic 75w90... Motor factor tells me it's a 0.7 litre capacity, after a brief search, I gathered its a fill to spill. Roughly 2litres.

Gearbox still rattles, and whines. So it's going in to a specialist on Wednesday as it appears damage has been done.

Initial findings from a gearbox specialist, Now have me by the nads.

"Bearing failure" £1800+Vodka and Tonic.
"Further damage if found would bring the bill up to £2200 +VAT"

Talk about defeat. After that news, I honestly feel deflated, Let down by my local garage even. I mean after a clutch and flywheel change, you would think they would have spotted a fluid leak. There was minimal fling evidence from the axle seal and even as I park the car in a garage, no territory marks or anything, not even on the undertray!
I'm not blaming them for the failure, But I think I might find a different garage in future.
That's my rant over, but if anyone wants a manual XC70 in a few weeks, Price just had £2k added to it!!

I can not find any local, or in any breakers local to me. Not even in the UK.

I didn’t think that Volvo supplied overhaul parts for the M56/M66 boxes?

But +1 for swapping for a used one, when looking make sure you select the AWD version if that’s what your car is. XC60 gearboxes should fit as well. An XC90 gearbox might have a different final drive ratio, not sure.

You’ve no way lost that amount of fluid from the leak as you describe it, if I’ve read your post correctly, I would believe the garage doing the clutch swap has not refilled the box - most of the fluid would have been lost during that work.

I phoned those several times, If they could be bothered to answer the phone, as I was in a position to collect not so long ago.
I will phone the gearbox center monday and stop work if they agree to fit a second hand unit rather than strip my box apart. Should imagine they'd be miffed, but hell... Theyre getting 9 hours of labour out of me.
