Bonnet latch not engaging
Hay, there is a thread about this (http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=77697) I have done everything suggested but still no luck, can anyone who's fixed it, other than spraying it with WD40 and messing around with the mechanism give me some more info. One guy said the cable could be stuck how would one go about fixing that?. I haven't really looked but how hard-easy is it to remove the bonnet mechanism. Help much appreciated have my MOT soon. eek

Some useful info here: http://bertram-hill.co.uk/Tips.aspx
If you have cleaned the mechanism and it's moving freely then i suppose the next step is the cable.. When mine started playing up i got a new latch off ebay and used a bike cable as per above.. worked a treat.. |

I have to push my cable below the steering wheel a bit and the slight movement allows the bonnet to close. I think there is probably crap, rust or something in the cable housing that restricts it's movement. When I finally sort mine out and i'm going to grease the cable tip to tip before I put it back in.

hyvaa i had that problem.were the cable outer tube meets the latch bend the bracket to the right [as your looking at it faceing the engine]this gives more play on the cable, its trile and error, you have to bend it just little at a time untill your happy with it. if its to much pull and not opening bend it back to the left, a little advice tie sting or some thing to the working lever so if its easy to open if you bend it to much, hope this makes sense.
