V50 Headlining needs putting back up as has dropped
Anyone have this problem ,I had some work done to the alarm system and the Headlining has sensors and wiring built in to it ,anyway didn't notice when I got the car back that the Headlining had not been put back as it was ,well it's now dropped badly ,how is this remedied please as I don't want to spend thousands on a new one
Thanks in Advance |

The headlining material is the coloured fabric with a very thin foam backing to act as an insulating layer, the foam side is glued to a backing board which forms the shape of the headliner, trouble is the foam breaks down; turning into a powder and begins to release the fabric which then hangs down in 'bubble' shapes (ask me how I know).
The 'dirty fix' is to carefully squirt spray adhesive behind the material....wait for it to go tacky....and then try to press it back in place.....the reality being it won't want to stick because the backing surface is covered in dusty bits of foam and it'll just be a mess to be honest (ask me how). I'm waiting for the motivation to remove the headlining (not easy) pull the fabric.....scrape away all remaining foam from the backing board...and send the whole thing to a Car Upholstery specialist to re-cover using the proper foam-backed headlining material. I haven't spoken to anyone yet but assumed if I did the donkey work removing the old stuff it would save a bit of money. In the meantime I've managed to get the fabric reasonably fitted (was hanging off in the corners) by pressing dress making pins horizontally through the far edges, through the fabric and into the backing board - had to be careful as there's wires above the head liner.
