The pad on my jack is much smaller than the cut out and the pads on car lifts, will it be ok on a smaller area?

Just for anyone else looking it is 140nm for the wheel studs and no lubrication...

Not wrong doing it again now and just noticed rear pads are unevenly worn so looks like new rear brakes

I too like doing it myself for the same reasons. I can check the suspension and brakes over properly, give the rear of the alloys a quick coat of copper grease and for the winter to summer swap, take the wheel arch liners out for a good wash and wax behind them. You don’t get that included if you take it somewhere for £30/£20/£8.

In the past I have never had the room to do jobs like this at home, as the garage was built for a model T, but as my dear old Mum stopped driving this year, I’ll be using her rather vast driveway (and her tea making skills) to do a few more of those easier cost saving jobs.

How easily do the arch liners come out? I have one that’s slightly out of alignment and when I swap back a good clean in there is a good idea.... also when I get my pressure washer back from sister I lent it her before the most recent lockdown and wasn’t expecting to not be allowed to visit and get it back before March 🤬

Just a few small torx screws and possibly a couple of plastic nuts, then the whole liner comes out. They are quite soft and floppy, so not difficult to do. You’ll be amazed by the amount of dirt that accumulates behind them.
