Default Numberplate lights different brightnesses

Hey all. I have a v50 (2008) and noticed the one numberplate light was dimmer than the other. Changed both bulbs today, cleaned both lenses and connectors and the one is still dimmer. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Thanks in advance, Craig

Update: did a little reading on here and turned the one bulb around and this seemed to work, however if the screws are too tight it dims the light again. These are led bulbs but I think I'll change them back to standard bulbs in case this is the problem. In the meantime the screws are about 95% tight and all seems ok for now

Most likely cause will be a connector bending / suffering from a poor contact & reducing the voltage to the LED . Make sure all the terminals are clean & bright on both light housings .

Also fit the LED with the holder hanging free of the car and turn on the lights , see if wiggling bulb has any sort of effect , you may well find the fault quickly .

Why on earth would you want to make your number plate more visible than the legal minimum?
The people interested in your number plate have only one thing on their minds and it is definitely not your best interests.

Keep it muddy!

Not sure if I've missed a joke there but why would you want a muddy plate? The white lights are for a slightly more modern aesthetic.

Dirty number plates are just another reason for you to be stopped. Then follows the question Have you had a drink recently sir?

Why take the risk!
