Exclamation Volvo D5 2004 Strange Rattling Noise After Engine is Stopped

Hi, my name is Cristian, I am new to this forum, and I would like to share my D5's cooling issue.

The noise starts only from time to time, when I suppose, the cooling fan should kick in.

Since this noiste started, I haven't heard the cooling fan to kick in.

Has somebody got the same issue? What should I do to fix this issue?

Many thanks!

Tested again today in the car park, the fan starts once the air con is on, but I wasn't able to replicate this sound again. I think it only happens after the car idles (city traffic) for a while.

Any suggestions?

I’ve had the symptom again today after spending some time in traffic, and I have noticed the cooling fan starts to make the noise when it attempts to spin to a higher speed.

Do I need to replace the whole fan or is it possible to replace the motor?

Many thanks!

UPDATE:

In this case, the radiator cooling fan was faulty. £30 from eBay and installed in 5 mins.
