Default Rti Cleaning Disc

Hi all, loving the site!

Just purchased a XC70 D5 2007 and the Sat Nav can't read disc (which I new before I purchased). So I need to clean the RTI DVD lens, does anyone local to Redditch (though I don't mind traveling a bit) have one of the genuine DVD cleaners with the bristles I could try. Otherwise it will be a trip to Johnsons in Solihull.

Thanks

Jim

As I understand it needs to be the genuine Volvo one, you can buy them from ebay for £70!!! As the Sat Nav is renowned to be a bit temperamental it might not solve the issue, so thought I'd try the cleaning disk before I strip the unit and clean the lens..
Cheers
Jim

You could buy the disc for £70 but you can pay considerably less: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2015-GENUI...gAAOSwcBhWX--O

I think I paid about £15 shipped from Germany.

Mine has suffered the same fate and even using the genuine cleaning disc it still will not play. So I am going to try a DVD cleaning kit I bought from Amazon. If it works I'll let you know.

I'm not paying £70.00 for a CD/DVD with three little brushes on it!

It isn't much more from your local dealer ! You do need the correct one , it has extra long bristles . However , It is unlikely to help , it is usually a problem with the DVD reader laser unit .

Thanks for the eBay link, I'm tempted to go for it as i suspect Volvo will charge me about £30 to use there's, and I would at least have my own disc.

Did your car come with the original set of discs? The later sets included a cleaning disc (or at least mine did). It's intended to be used regularly to keep the laser in good order rather than to save it once it's failed. You may be lucky and be able to get it going but generally by the time it stops reading it will require stripping down and cleaning by hand.
