Default Vida to update Gearbox software

Hi all,

I have a copy of VIDA and a Dice device. My question is has anyone tried a software update to their car using their copy of VIDA.

I want to cure an annoying gear change issue which might just be a software update.

just looking for any info really.

as far as I'm aware you can't just do it yourself, the dealer has to do it

OR at least you have to have new legit software (temporary 1 month licences are possible I believe) and then you pay for the download of that one unit of updated software as well, and then it works ? something like that

have you already eliminated the possibility of dodgy old fluid (i.e. you've drained and flushed at least 3 or 4 times or done the full fluid swap gibbons thing)

soft wear can only be updated by main dealer or independent volvo specialist who has genuine vida subscription which cost abt £7k a year. one month subscription is only for usa users . you can however reset all the learned parameters back to zero and then reset the adaptions .it is documented somewhere in the forum. if you can find someone who has v dash and knows how to use it software updates are available but im not sure whats available.

I believe some of the Volvo specialist indi garages could do it.

As a related question - is it possible to see current software versions on the car with a “home” version of Vida?. Bonus points if there’s a way to see if there are updates available….

if you connect your car and select the tcm. there are several sub menus. as vida is so complex there are lots of features and possibilities that most clone vida owners / users don't even realise that they are there. dependant on screen size sometimes the info dose not show without scrolling the screen display. this had me fooled until i resized the display to show all the info on the screen. I doubt if it will show upgrades that are available but it may show which version you have installed

Thanks for the replies.
I've flushed the transmission fluid once.
Do you recon it could need doing again to smooth out the changes again?

what do you define as 'flush' was it just draining out of the sump and filling back up?

or using pipes and buckets etc with the engine running pulling loads of fluid through

Don't forget to then reset the Oil Wear counter. NOT adaptations, just counter.

ah ok so one complete cycle of flushes as it were, cool

did you try adding lubeguard or any other addititve

main reason I'm commenting is I did the same about a year ago and I've still got a slight flare into 3rd about every 200miles or so, thinking of doing another series of flushes, and putting in more additive this time instead of the relatively tiny amount it said on the label

I haven't done the software update either, but it strikes me as being more of a mechanical / fluid related issue. and to be honest it's so minor and rarely happens that mostly I can't be arsed lol
