Default D5 Cambelt Failure advice on replacement needed

Just had the cambelt fail on my 04 XC90 D5 125,000miles

Frustrating that I bought the car 18 months ago with 90K on the clock, I changed the belt, tensioners, and water pump 8 months ago ar 112,000miles. Risky I know but i did get have it done!

The garage are not sure why the cambelt snapped but when they have replaced all of the above the belt does not run true on the pulleys i.e. it is drifting off the pulley.

They suspect worn / bent camshaft ? they are about to start a costly strip down / diagnosis.

Is it best just to go and get a second hand engine ?

Advice please.....

really sorry to hear what happened to you - a nightmare for all XC90 owners I'm sure!

Do you think the garage are going to take full responsibility?

This outfit on Ebay say they'll supply and fit an engine for £2,250...sounds like a good price.

Did you use all genuine volvo parts? It shouldnt take long to discover why the belt isnt running true ...
