Default 144 Deluxe auto 1974 ORANGE

Right then, time to let my old girl go to a good home (I hope)

August 1974 144 Deluxe auto in a very 1970s orange with matching orange carpets and orange deck chair seats! Only 72,160 miles showing and I have no reason to doubt this is original (Although I cannot prove as I got her with no back up paperwork I am afraid)

At time of writing no Mot but is booked in next week so will be sold with a full 12 months on her.

I have owned the car for almost 10 years and have done a few jobs over the years to get her roadworthy.

4 new tyres and a bottom end respray4 years ago to put her into a good and solid condition 2 (going by the descriptions in Practical Classics).

Also comes with a Volvo roof rack which I suspect is a later type than the car but still very handy !

Too many things to do and so have not been using her so has to go.

Can I start the offers around £1000 (with the years MOT if all goes to plan)

You can call me on 07918 763 904 and the car is in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

Will try and post some photos

Hi there nice car you have there.
I'm affraid I have to many cars myself but always enjoy seeing the earlier models.
I have seen only one other orange one with the deckchair interior so all photoes will be nice to see.
It looks like you enjoyed taking it to the odd show?as well.

I hope you manage to sell it but just lately our beloved old tanks haven't been doing to well in the present climate. What with fuel costs going through the roof etc.
Anyone with some spare money could get together a good collection for future years.
Many Thanks Brian.

What engine is in this nice retro ride?
Gearbox with OD?

Any idea what kind of welding was done before the respray?

Photo's of engine and steering column/interior would be very nice..

Smile Welding

Hello,
There was a small patch (matchbox size) on the rear of one sill and a small strip on the inner wing on the passenger side.

The passenger wing is a steel replacement as the one it came with I suspect was a replacement that had rotted away due to lack of rust proofing.

That was it really as it is remarkably rust free. The bottom end was resprayed as small chips had been left and they had blistered and it looked a bit rubbish.

I will run the vacuum over the inside and take some more photos. will also post some 'before' pictures.

Hopefully someone will take it on. I bought it for the colour scheme which I think is fabulous.

Smile Quick update on progress

Well Volvo fans a quick update on the old girl.

Well what a shock, she failed the MOT......... boo hoo

BUT, all is well and a new ticket should be gained next week because most of it is minor.

New clips for one headlight should secure it (Ordered and already delivered from Brookhouse) a new wiper blade and need to fix the E on the front number plate!

Not a surprise was the binding brakes. So the lucky next owner will have 4 refurbished calipers on the car along with new pads all round. Being done by Bigg Red.

apart from that, all was well. Not bad for a car that has been off the road for over 2 years !

Will keep you posted. Next post should be the eBay listing.

comments still welcome on the condition and my assumptions. You are all very quiet!
