yes, I do have one and no, I never had to take it out to get access to battery :> I always thought that cover is designed to slide under the brace and lock on front part of plastic clips, thats what mine does.

As we just confirmed via Whatsapp, nope, yours is just broken

Seems you can save a step if you have a broken battery cover since you don't need to remove the strut.

btw I seem to noticed 2 general ways to approach this - glovebox out&CEM not disconnected, or CEM out & glovebox stays.
I personally did the latter one twice, seem more sensible (possiblity to examine/check CEM while doing so VS bending wires and connectors) but maybe glovebox method has its advantages, may try it one day (hopefully not soon).
When I changed the pollen filter I completely removed the glovebox and the CEM, (first disconnected the battery), carpet... but I could not get the CEM's brackets out, so imagine how I replaced it. I had only a few cm between the right CEM bracket and the filter door. I inserted it cm by cm....nightmare.
It is very bad idea of the Volvo tech placing it in that area, moving the CEM's connections all the time is not good idea, therefore a green connector plug is broken and whenever I remove it i have to use a cable tie to tighten it back.
By the way, on pollen filter there is an arrow, when fitted the direction of arrow is to the engine or inside the car.

Just finished changing the pollen filter, was not to bad, in terms of difficulty, although the old one looked clean, after just 7.5k. The old one was in wrong position fitted, I did it
Disconnected the negative of battery -> removed glove box and its connections -> CEM & bracket removed. At the end I cleaned the temp sensor and cleaned all CEM connectors. Put back all together.

Where is temp sensor that you cleaned? is that this part behind small vent hole for AC ?

that connector you pointed out at - where is it? if on glovebox, maybe its for light? if on behing-waterfall-panel, may be for that small fan blowing air onto actual sensor?

Temp sensor is behind that console trim yeah, that bit of trim you pull off with a screwdriver. I don't think it's particularly susceptible to dust etc but won't hurt to clean.

The connector that clips onto the top of the glovebox I've never seen on connected on these cars....

Perhaps VIDA will know

EDIT:

Nobody knows
