Pink Anti Freeze

i am getting a warning occasionally though increasingly that the coolant level is low on my 2015 S80 and the level in the header tank does appear a bit low, would I be correct in assuming that pink anti freeze is correct? The handbook states 'Coolant recommended by Volvo' mixed with 50% water' which as it doesn't state the coolant recommended by Volvo isn't particularly useful.

Just top up with water for now to be safe.
You buy coolant based on its properties not colour so like the handbook says, check with Volvo to get the right one.
Coolant is one of the genuine Volvo products that's not that expensive from a main dealer.

The coolant should be green, not pink.

If you buy some from the main dealer, it'll be green & will be the right spec too.

I'd suggest draining your existing pink coolant from the system & replacing it with the green Volvo stuff. As cheshired5 says, top the reservoir up with water for now to be safe in the mean time.

Green or blue. I'll look at my bottle later but it is Volvo coolant.
Pink is usually (but not exclusively) an OAT coolant so protects the engine differently (chemically speaking). Most Volvos do not use OAT technology (but again, not sure about their newer engines).

General advice is get a Volvo coolant for your car as it is not appreciatively more expensive (or cheaper) than other brands. But you know it is recommended for your car.

And there's me thinking that if your Volvo was a little boy Volvo, it needed blue coolant, but if it was a little girl Volvo, it needed pink.
